Qualifications and experience vary between Candidates and are outlined on individual profiles prior to Booking. Some clients need childcare help only (e.g. a night nanny), and others prefer a highly trained health care professional (e.g. midwife)


What is the difference between a night nanny and a maternity nurse?

A night nanny generally focuses on practical overnight newborn care and support for families. Night nannies generally come from childcare backgrounds.

A maternity nurse or midwife have more health care training in postnatal care so may additionally provide:

  • postnatal education;
  • feeding support;
  • newborn guidance;
  • maternal recovery support; and
  • more specialised newborn experience.
  • nursing skills e.g. SCN babies, feeding tubes, wound care etc

Yes. Families may transition suitable Candidates into permanent household placements through Nest Care. We can find you a suitable candidate, you can then employ yourself for a placement fee. No need to keep paying weekly agency fees. 

Nest Care also offers:

  • payroll/admin support; and
  • ongoing staffing coordination where required.

How quickly can overnight support be arranged?

We book out quickly so do encourage booking antenatally, however if urgent care is required Bookings can sometimes be arranged typically within 7 days.

Advance Booking is recommended, particularly for:

  • newborn care;
  • ongoing overnight support;
  • weekends; and
  • public holiday periods.
